Can I Get Rid Of Termites By Myself?

by Shannon Staunton

Friday, March 1, 2013

Yes! DIY is easy

Homeowners can choose do-it-yourself termite control.

Colony Killer Termite Bait contains a chemical called chlorfluazuron, it is safe for homeowner use and is used by most pest control professionals.

Our Colony Killer Termite Bait is a government registered, contains this termite control chemical and is not restricted to professionals. Anyone can buy and use it.

Control Termites with Colony Killer Termite Bait

The termite bait is dry powder mixed with water and the resulting porridge-like termite bait is added to either the exterior of timbers inside which termites are feeding or to purpose-built termite monitors which have been discovered by termites.

It is important that once the termite bait is made available to the termites that it is covered and sealed to ensure the feeding termites are able to continue to feed undisturbed in their dark humid and protected environment.

This can often be achieved simply, conveniently and inexpensively using aluminium foil and sticky tape.

Only add termite bait when you have identified live white ants and termites at work. Termite workers eat the termite bait and carry it back to their nests to share with the entire termite colony. The termite bait prevents young termites called nymphs from moulting and forming hard shells. These termites die because decomposition gases and rampant fungi destroy the nest.

Replenish Termite Bait Regularly

Two or three pouches of Colony Killer Termite Bait may be sufficient to control and eradicate small termite colonies, while larger colonies may need ten pouches or more. Multiple feeding sites can result in faster termite colony destruction.

Towards the end of the process, you should begin to see fewer termites when you refill the termite bait.

Inspect every few weeks until there is no live termites or white ants presence.
