Bad things happen to houses in Australia
Almost 1 in 60 homes have been flooded, Almost 1 in 12 homes have had a fire, Almost 1 in 3 homes have a history of termites.
You can look at it another way:
your home is 20 times more likely to get termites than being flooded
your home is 4 times more likely to have termites than catch fire
…but you willingly pay over a thousand dollars every year for insurance cover for events that are much less likely to happen to your home.
The CSIRO created a termite risk map of Australia that shows most of the continent in Very High, High, and Moderate risk of termite attack.
Only the small strip of land west of Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road is Very Low and Tasmania has negligible risk from the home-wrecking insects.
Your home probably has an 80% risk of being located within striking distance of a termite colony
Two surveys confirm each other
CSIRO conducted a survey around 2006 which indicated that 32% of Australian homes have a history of termites. More recently, the Institute of Australian Architects confirmed that by finding that pre-purchase home inspections found termite damage in one-third of all homes inspected.
Yet despite these overlapping and confirming statistics, only about 1 in 5 homeowners call in a professional to check their homes. If you are one of the 4 homeowners that don’t check your home, you should begin to wonder if you aren’t living in a termite disaster waiting to happen. Warrants attention, doesn’t it?
Any way you look at it, if yours is one of the two out of three homes that haven’t had termites (yet) wouldn’t you want to spend less than $500 once every 10 years to try and keep it that way?
Termite Monitor & Termite Bait – Termite Baiting System
Termite control using termite monitors and termite bait make a total system can defend your home and reduce your risk especially if you back the system up with regular home inspections
DIY Termite Baiting System
DIY termite monitors arer Termitraps, designed to intercept termite activity while they are still foraging around outside your home.
They work the same way as professional systems but are so much cheaper to give the same result.
Just add the safe-to-use Colony Killer Termite Bait to any termitrap that’s attacked and the worker termites carry it back to the termite colony. That entire termite nest is eradicated. There are termite flights every summer from somewhere around your place; the threat is constant, however, the termite monitors can be re-used and will last over 10 years.
