Termites cause millions of $ damage each year. Here’s a simple, non toxic DIY solution.
G’day,
Ion Staunton’s my name and for over 40 years I’ve been involved in the eradication of termites in Australia.
I’m an entomologist and wrote the textbooks used to train Aussie professionals.
This I know:
To do a proper job of killing termites you’ve found you only need 3 things.
- Termite Bait
- Termite Monitors (some people call them termitraps – same thing)
- And the right advice.
If you have these 3 things (and they’re all available from this site) you can do a job yourself, and you’ll be doing it as well or in many cases better than a professional who will charge you many hundreds, even thousands of dollars more.
Here are the products that you’ll need.
1) Bait
Our Colony Killer Termite Bait are filled with an insect growth inhibitor called Chlorfluazuron – its deadly to the life cycle of termites, but won’t harm you, your family or pets.
… you just add water
… and the Colony Killer Termite Bait can be stuck directly onto timbers where you’ve found live termites.
Here it’s been added to a fence post where termites were found.
2) Termite Monitors (termitraps. . same thing)
There are different types of termite monitors on the market.
Most require you to dig them into the ground. Termitraps are the only ones that sit above ground.
Why?
Termite colonies send out ‘scouts’ to forage for new food sources.
Studies have proven that these scouts forage above the ground.
Yes, in-ground monitors can and do work, but above ground have been proven to be more effective.
This is a TermiTrap
There are 22 in a pack.
The more monitors you place around your home and garden, the more chances you have of intercepting termites. (Thats why this system has more monitors than any other in Australia)
They’re filled with sustainably grown Tasmanian Oak: the timber the CSIRO advises is most attractive to termites.
The How To Guide gives you all the info you need so you know where to place them.
Once termites move in, they will block out the hole at the top with their ‘mud’ …
This is your cue to add water to a Colony Killer Termite Bait and fix it to the top of the termitrap…
The termites take it back to the nest, and it kills the nest. Larger nests will need more than one Colony Killer Termite Bait.
Congratulations!
By following these simple steps you will have used the same principles that a professional pest controller would have used, and you will have saved many hundreds, potentially thousands of dollars.
So what does this method cost?
The Termite Bait: $260 – Free postage in Australia
The Termite Monitors: $475 – Free postage in Australia
The Termite Baiting System: Termite Monitors & Termite Bait: $710 – Free postage in Australia
