Where do termites come from?
Termites can strike terror into the hearts of homeowners, but the insects provide a critical ecological function of recycling rotten wood and fallen logs.
If termites would only stay out of homes, they would be applauded as environmental conservationists extraordinaire.
Instead, these minute, blind, thin-skinned pale creatures find their way into millions of homes each year and gnaw away at people’s life savings.
Termite control sets boundaries to keep termites in the natural realm and away from the man-made world.
How do termites grow?
Initial reproductive termites called the queen and king lay eggs that become nymphs who mature into workers. Nymphs also can become soldiers to defend the colony from invaders.
Finally, some ‘selected’ nymphs may be spared the colonising flight to replace the queen or king should the royalty die.
Feed a safe termite bait to workers who feed it to nymphs and you’ll kill the termite colony by inhibiting the growth of nymphs.
