TermiKill DIY Termite Baiting System Compared To EBC Termite Control Kit

TermiTrap & EBC
Similarities

  • They both offer monitors to intercept scouting termites
  • They both offer non-toxic IGR treatment to kill off the colony
  • Both kits are made up of similar quantities of monitors and bait
  • Both Australian made

TermiTrap & EBC
Differences

  • Monitor
is a polypropylene box containing timber which is placed on gardens, on pavers, over expansion joints in concrete slabs (anywhere but a lawn) so the building can be fully surrounded.
  • Detection
is by observing termite mud blocking a hole in the top of the Trap.
  • Life
of the box is 10-20 years and only the bottom edge of the timber is in contact with soil moisture so the timber could easily last 10+ years
  • Cost of Kit
22 monitors plus bait for $710 includes manual instructions $21.50 ea
  • Monitor
is a cylindrical container dug 200mm+ (8 inches or more) into the soil of gardens and lawns to be flush with the surface.
  • Detection
is by observing termite mud in a window.
  • Life
is dependent on the amount of soil moisture causing rot to the contents.
  • Cost of Kit
    20 monitors plus bait for $799 includes$28.00 ea + P&H

TermiTrap and EBC
Summary

Getting the bait back to kill the colony is the common aim of both kits.
And that depends on how easily the monitor can be found by termite scouts in their constant search for food.

There is no way termites can find timber in a house without coming up out of the soil.

This realisation led to the development of the on-ground TermiTraps — a world-first. They are ‘up there’ where termite scouts are looking. Scientific papers and trials have confirmed that termite monitors placed on the ground and other surfaces are found sooner than those buried in the ground.

Both Termite Baiting Systems use the same IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) as used by an overwhelming number of professionals because it does the job and is non-toxic to humans, pets and wildlife.

Apart from the price difference, the TermiTrap termite monitors can be put in more places to completely surround buildings and there is no need to fight roots and rocks digging deep holes in the soil.

The EBC monitors can become ‘lost’ in gardens, becoming covered in leaf litter or overgrown.
The green ‘bricks’ of the TermiTraps may be more obtrusive until you become accustomed to them but at least they can be checked at a glance when passing.

The Colony Killer Termite Bait pouches can also be directly fixed to any timbers you find being eaten by termites. Termite Bait is then conveyed back to the nest without termite scouts needing to find a termite monitor.
